Message from the President

Fellow members of NACWPI,
I have exciting news to share with you! NACWPI will be collaborating with the College Music Society for our next national conference, NACWPI 2012! The conference will take place in San Diego, California, with the NACWPI sessions tentatively scheduled for November 17, 2012. This particular meeting will also be held in conjunction with the National Association of Schools of Music, so it is going to be a big event!
We are still finalizing some details, but I have been given permission to release our Calls for Proposals. Application procedures and composition commission information are elsewhere in this issue, as well as available on nacwpi.org and the Facebook page. Electronic submissions are strongly encouraged! In addition to saving money and natural resources, this type of submission is easy to disseminate to the adjudication committee. You must be a member of both CMS and NACWPI to present at this conference.
The board and I are excited about this and upcoming collaborations with CMS , as we expect NACWPI to continue holding conferences with this organization in even numbered years in the future. We also anticipate holding our own national conferences in odd numbered years (like the recent one at the University of Florida, Gainesville) as well.
